Ri philharmonic Recorder project 2013
Hooray and Congrats to all Recorder Performers!
Even though the concert is over, we will still be playing recorders in class for our Battle of the Bands Unit! Students will challenge themselves to read sheet music and collaborate with classmates to make their own rockband. Bands will perform I've Got A Feeling by the Black Eyed Peas. Students will earn beads for each level they pass in a class performance.
The recorder is an instrument that has been enjoyed by the Western World for many centuries beginning in the 1500s. Because the instrument is relatively simple and cost effective to reproduce in plastic, it is favored by many classroom music teachers today as a first instrument for elementary aged students.
Students must have their recorder and book in class every week. They should practice at home 3-5 times between lessons so that they can experience the joy of getting really good at an instrument. We will perform music learned in class with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra! This is fun and exciting.
Student instrument/book purchase was funded through a generous grant from the Alviti Foundation which is a local Cranston organization dedicated to enriching the lives of Cranston students through music education.
Transportation sponsored by the Rhode Island State Council for the Arts, "Big Yellow Bus Grant".

Chorus responsibilities:
Bring folder to every rehearsal.
Keep sheet music in good condition so it can be used again another year.
Quiet immediately at signal.
Respect other students at all times.
Encourage other students to try new things like solos and dancing.
